Scooting down a London street
Doing this for years and it’s bittersweet
Head through a city that everyone’s heard of
Hey look, there’s another crane
Scaffolding workers fight against the rain
The lights go green and then I’m gone
I’m heading for Soho, just a mile or two to go
Victorian splendour all around
Piccadilly and the traffic’s gone
Wink at Anteros as I ride on
Park in a bay, chain the wheel
When you’re walking down a Soho street
You feel the history and feel the beat
Of the city as it ebbs and flows
A place of dreams
Or so it seems
Making my way down Shaftesbury Avenue
Towards old China Town
Aromas of different cuisines fill the air
Take a left up Frith Street by Ronnie’s place
He’s been there since ’65
I'll sit in the sun in Soho Square
When I came here I was seventeen
Such a skinny little boy
Daily proposition “do you wanna girl?”
